Event Overview 

 

M onday September 1, 2014 – Hendersonville, NC – Four rides for all levels.

 

  • The Honey Crisp Unbelievable 100 Mile Century with over 8,000 feet of ascent and 6 mountain climbs:  Sugarloaf Mountain, Bearwallow Mountain, Terry's Gap, Pinnacle Mountain, and Jump Off Rock
  • The Gala Challenge Metric 100 Kilometers (63 Miles) with over 4,000 feet of ascent over 3 mountain climbs:  Sugarloaf Mountain, Bearwallow Mountain, and Terr's Gap.
  • The Jonagold Jaunt with 45 miles of hills and apple orchards with 2,500 feet of ascent.
  • The Green Apple Enthusiast 25 mile ride with just 1,000 feet of ascent.

 

 

New for 2014

 

We will will be hosting a King and Queen of the Mountains over the major mountain climbs of the Honey Crisp Unbelievable Century using Strava.  No registration required.  Simply use your Garmin or other GPS tracking device and upload to your www.strava.com account.  The fastest combined his and her times of the day (registered for the Tour d’ Apple, of course) will win…wait for it…bragging rights!

 

Additionally, We will again host the Kids Crabapple Mini Tour !  A free event for cyclists ages 5-13 and their parents.  Begin with a Bicycle Safety Clinic, enjoy some fun drills to develop bicycle skills and balance, and end with a three mile bicycle tour of the BRCC campus.  On site Registration only beginning at 9:30 A.M.  Kids Crabapple Mini Tour begins at 10:00 A.M.  The 1st 50 entries will receive a kids complimentary T-shirt from Chick-fil-A.

The 2014 Tour d' Apple is promoting Health and Wellness by offering the opportunity to create Corporate Teams!!  Benefits include:

August 18 , 2014  - Early Registration Ends

August 31, 2014 – 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Tour d’ Apple EARLY Packet Pickup at Mountain Inn and Suites 755 Upward Rd Flat Rock, NC  28731 (Exit 53 off of I-26)

September 1, 2014:

7:00 AM  Registration and Packet Pickup for all routes

8:00 AM Official Start of Tour d’ Apple

9:30-10:00 AM Registration for Kids Crabapple Mini-tour and Bicycle safety clinic

10:00 AM-  Kids Crabapple Mini-tour Bicycle Safety Clinic and Balance Skills Drills

10:30 AM – Crabapple Mini-tour 3 mile tour of Blue Ridge Community College

11:30 AM – Post Ride Meal Begins

4:00 PM - Post-Ride Meal Ends

4:30 PM – All routes close

September 2, 2014 6:00 PM – Group Recovery Ride for all Tour d’ Apple participants.  Place TBD.

REFUNDS

Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds or credit registration fees towards next year’s event as this event has limited entries, early financial commitments, and a very tight budget. Event will be held rain or shine unless severe weather or other circumstances cause the course to be unsafe.

T-SHIRTS

2014 Tour d' Apple T-Shirts and sizing are GUARANTEED for pre-registered riders that have completed EARLY registration (ending August 18th, 2014).  We will give our best “guestimate” of riders and sizing for full-price registration and day-of registration participants.

JERSERYS

Official Tour d' Apple cycling Jersey will be availble for purchase by the end of June, 2014.  I link will be provided on the website and all participants pre-registered will receive and email alert.  Stay current at www.tourdapple.com to see the 2014 Jersery design and purchasing information.
