Jeff Papenfus, one of the founders of www.go-greenevents.com and a noted Upstate outdoors enthusiast, died while mountain biking in North Carolina on July 30, 2011.

He helped found www.go-greenevents.com in 2010 and it quickly has become one of the region’s top online race entry websites. Jeff was also a former member of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and one of the founders of NEXT in the Greenville community. He was a cycling enthusiast, adventure racer, runner and mountain biker in the Upstate with scores of races under his belt. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Papenfus.

Local business leaders have noted Jeff's impact on the community. One of Jeff's other great passions was being outdoors whether it be on his bike, on a trail or in a canoe.

With the help of his wife, go-greenevents is honoring Jeff by starting a memorial fund to support organizations that were important to him. Some of the charities include:

Upstate SORBA (local chapter of the Southeastern Off-Road Bicycle Association, IMBA affiliate)

Greenville County Recreation District (Trails Division)

American Heart Association

City of Greenville Mountain Bike Trails

Paris Mountain State Park Friends
