You are invited to join us for the FIRST ANNUAL FREEDOM 5K on Saturday, May 29th at 5pm and FREEDOM RIDE on Sunday, May 30th at 9am.  Organizers plan for these events to become annual signature events and attractions both for the participants and the 175,000+ who attend the event annually.

The Greenville Hospital System Freedom Weekend Aloft has partnered with the Greenville Track Club, Palmetto Peloton C3 and Go-Green Events to coordinate the planning, management and on-site execution of both the 5K and Cycling event so participants can definitely anticipate top notch and first class events.

The Upstate's highest flying Memorial Day celebration has become synonymous with dramatic hot air balloon ascensions, non-stop concerts, family and children's entertainment, national disc dog competitions, baseball tournaments, great food and more.

Since partnering with the Greenville Hospital System in 2008 organizers have added more and more events each year that focus and promote fun, active and healthy lifestyles.

The event is held over the Memorial Day Holiday weekend and runners, walkers and cyclists of all skill levels are welcomed and encouraged to participate.  Routes for both events will take participants through the 90 acre festival grounds at peak times showcasing both the participants and events.  Plans are for the 5K to finish in the Heritage Park Amphitheater just as the skyline fills with hot air balloons taking flight and musicians are preparing to take to the stage for a night filled with music. Organizers hope to achieve multiple objectives with the run and ride and all these are considered a priority.

In the spirit of Memorial Day, runners and cyclists will be participating to "Celebrate, Honor or In Remembrance Of" those men and women who have served our country in past years or who may currently be serving. If you have a grandparent, great grandparent, husband, wife, friend, neighbor, co-worker, brother, sister, Mom, Dad, we want to make this event one where we both honor  and highlight the selfless service and sacrifice of these men and women on behalf of all of us!  We want to share your stories and celebrate all these GREAT AMERICANS!

For the participants we want this to be a first class experience in everyway, so we are truly fortunate to have The Greenville Track Club and Palmetto Peloton working to insure that after your participation this year, you will plan for 2011 and keep this event on your" can't miss calendar" so we are confident that you can plan on an exciting event from route design to hospitality to an emphasis on the part of all the organizers to insure that you, your family and friends enjoy all the event has to offer.

Your participation will clearly demonstrate to the thousands watching these events that healthy and active lifestyles can be FUN... yes FUN!

The 5K For Freedom and the Freedom Ride will donate all proceeds to the Palmetto Peloton Challenge to Conquer Cancer and also to additional deserving Greenville Hospital System programs and initiatives.

Please remember that all skill levels are welcomed and we hope you will join us for the inaugural year of the 5K FOR FREEDOM... and FREEDOM RIDE!
